Have you ever wondered what a career in real estate would really be like?
Do you love searching for homes online even though you aren't looking to buy one? If so, let's talk!
Starting a career in real estate is easier than you think and the rewards can be amazing! When you become a real estate broker in Washington state, you are a business owner and have the freedom to be as successful as you choose to be.
To get started in real estate you must:
- Complete a 90-hour pre-licensing course either online or in person
- Successfully pass the Washington State Real Estate Exam
- Choose a real estate brokerage to be affiliated with. Interview multiple brokerages before you decide who you want to grow your business with, think of it this way: you are a business owner and you are interviewing brokerages to partner with, what do they offer you to help you be successful.
Once you have completed the above steps, the real fun starts! The most important thing to consider when you are newly licensed is who you want to grow your business with.
When you are taking the 90-hour pre-licensing course you do not learn the ins-and-outs of real estate which is what is necessary to become a successful broker. Many brokerages offer you training and leads but be cautious as most of the training offered is more general for everyone and not as much targeted for your needs as a newly licensed broker. Some brokerages offer you coaching which is completely different than having a mentor: a coach holds you accountable regarding your numbers and gives you tips on how to achieve your numbers, a mentor is your right-hand confidant who is there day or night to answer your questions about everything that has to do with real estate from how to conduct a buyer consultation or listing presentation to what forms to use in a transaction and everything else you can think of. It is important to choose a mentor you connect with who can help you get up and running quickly once you are licensed.
Licensed since 2007 I was a top producer and trainer at Keller Williams Puyallup for nearly 10 years. I am certified to teach real estate clock hour classes and am also a Managing Broker in the State of Washington. In November of 2017 I moved over to eXp Realty after learning about their mentorship program as well as the other 6 opportunities to earn revenue with them. I am now a certified mentor with eXp's mentorship program and my passion is not only growing my business but also helping brand new brokers learn the business so they can become successful as quickly as possible.
