Algona Real Estate
This small, quaint town in King County between Auburn and Pacific, originally called Valley City has a long and rich history. In 1874 it was purchased by L.S. Rogers and then sold to C.D. Hillmann in 1906. The name changed to Algona in 1907 because when the small town applied for a post office, Washington DC replied saying that they needed a different name as Valley City was already taken by a town in Eastern Washington. The name Algoma was suggested as it had the meaning of "Valley of Flowers" which was a perfect name because of the rich soils for farming. Ultimately the name became Algona.
